The prosecution of Evreux announced Monday that a third victim, aged 13, died following the fire on Saturday in a farmhouse in Selles in the Eure.

It was the big sister of the two children already found dead.

Pulled out of the blaze, the teenager had been evacuated "in absolute urgency".

The fire which caused the death of two children on Saturday in a farmhouse in Selles in Eure claimed a third victim, their 13-year-old sister who died on Monday, the Evreux prosecutor's office announced.

"The third victim died today. She was 13 years old, she is the big sister of the first two victims", a 7-year-old girl and her 11-year-old brother, prosecutor Christophe Salort told AFP on Monday. Deputy of the Republic in Évreux.

The teenager evacuated "in absolute urgency"

The young teenager, extricated from the blaze in cardio-respiratory arrest on Saturday, had been evacuated "in absolute urgency" by helicopter to the Trousseau hospital in Paris.

In total, five adults and five children, four generations of the same family reunited for Christmas, were in this second home near Pont-Audemer.

The people present in the house on the night of the events came from Yvelines, Paris (16th), Saône-et-Loire and Switzerland, said Christophe Salort.

"A judicial expert has been seized. Forensic expertise operations are underway to determine the origin of the fire which remains at this undetermined time," added the magistrate.

The firefighters were alerted to the incident around 3:45 a.m. and arrived quickly on the scene, but the fire was already very advanced and the Norman farmhouse was engulfed in flames.
