It was around 10:20 last night when the Coast Guard received a report that a male emergency patient in his 30s with gastrointestinal bleeding had to be transported from Ulleungdo to the mainland.
When it was difficult to fly a firefighting helicopter due to bad weather, the Coast Guard sent a 1,500-ton patrol boat, and the patrol boat arrived at Donghae Port around 8:00 this morning with a patient and three medical staff on board.
The patient was transferred to a hospital in Gangneung and is receiving treatment.
