Cracks in the windows of a running KTX train made passengers nervous.

Today (23rd) at around 10:50 am, the glass window of KTX Sancheon 4054, which was operating near Cheonan Asan Station in Chungcheongnam-do, was cracked.

The train departed from Jeonju Station in North Jeolla Province at 9:13 am and was on its way to Yongsan Station in Seoul.

A passenger on the train said, "Suddenly, there was a loud noise and the windows were broken."

According to Korail, KTX trains have two layers of glass windows on the inside and outside, and this crack occurred on the outside window.

During the winter, snow and tangled pebbles have been reported to cause cracks in the exterior windows of trains.

KORAIL reported that five exterior window cracks occurred today alone.

KORAIL explained that the internal windows are tempered glass that is not easily damaged, so it continued to operate as there was no problem with passenger safety.

A KORAIL official said, "As there is a lot of snow in the section, there is a high possibility of cracks on the outside windows, so we are traveling at a speed close to half of the usual speed."
