Lead] A mother has been caught abandoning her 10-day-old baby in front of a restaurant in sub-zero weather.

Police believe it is because she has difficulty raising her alone.

The baby is currently receiving hospital treatment.

Reporter Kim Chul of JTV covered the story.

A woman approaches the restaurant with her hands full of something.

She wanders around, puts down what is in her arms, and disappears.

Hearing her cries, the restaurant owner came out and found a newborn baby whose umbilical cord hadn't even fallen off.

At that time, the perceived temperature in Jeonju fell to minus 7 degrees Celsius.

The baby had to stay out of her cold by relying on one of her blankets.

[Kim Byung-gyun / Reporter: She cried when she was outside, but when I hugged her and warmed her indoors, the crying stopped.] The

police, who started the pursuit, arrested the woman in a one-room apartment in Jeonju.

She is an international student in her 20s from Vietnam who has been living alone.

The woman gave birth to her baby at an obstetrics and gynecology clinic in Jeonju four days before her assault.

During the police investigation, the woman was reported to have said that she abandoned the baby because it was difficult for her to raise her alone.

[Police official: I don't make a statement about her father.

I didn't make a statement, so when we estimate, we just assume that he's a male of the same Vietnamese age.]

The baby is currently being treated at the hospital and it is understood that there are no major health problems.

After she completes her treatment, she will be taken care of by a specialized child protection agency.

The police plan to apply for an arrest warrant for the woman by applying the charges of infant abandonment under the Child Welfare Act.
