Police have arrested a woman who abandoned her newborn baby in freezing temperatures.
Deokjin Police Station in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province arrested and investigated her Mr. A on charges of infant abandonment under the Child Welfare Act.
Mr. A is accused of abandoning a newborn baby in front of a restaurant in Jeonmi-dong, Deokjin-gu, Jeonju, around 8:10 pm yesterday (19th).
It was found that the owner of the restaurant immediately reported it to the police when he heard a child crying outside.
The newborn was said to have been wrapped in a blanket when found.
At the time of discovery, the temperature in Jeonju was -1.8 degrees Celsius, but the child was known to have no major health problems.
The police checked the surrounding CCTV and arrested Mr. A at around 6:00 pm.
A police official said, "We are going to investigate her relationship with her newborn baby and the reason for her abandonment."
