A woman in her 40s who tried to kill her ex-husband by driving a car into a car has been sentenced to prison.

The 12th Criminal Division of the Incheon District Court (Presiding Judge Lim Eun-ha) announced today (9th) that it sentenced Mr. A (48, female), who was charged with attempted murder and obstruction of justice, to four years in prison.

Mr. A was charged with attempting to kill her ex-husband Mr. B (48) with her car at a three-way intersection in Seo-gu, Incheon on May 26 at around 10:16 pm.

When Mr. B approached from about 20m in front, he stepped on the accelerator of the stopped car to the point where the engine sound was loud and accelerated rapidly.

When Mr. B avoided, Mr. A changed direction and continued to drive the car, and Mr. B, who eventually crashed into the car, suffered bruises.

It was investigated that he committed the crime because he thought that Mr. B, who divorced 10 years ago, had abused her while raising her teenage son.

Mr. A was also accused of assaulting a police officer who was reported after the crime and was dispatched with a fist.

The judge said, "The accused committed the crime without being able to control his anger," and "it was very dangerous, and the victim seems to have suffered great physical and mental pain."

"Even so, the defendant did not make an effort to receive forgiveness," he said, explaining the reason for the sentencing, saying, "We took into account the fact that the accused suffered from very serious paranoid schizophrenia."
