The 'Lee Chun-jae Serial Murder Case' in which 10 women were sacrificed in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do for six years from 1986.

At the time, a 22-year-old young man, Yoon Seong-yeo, was identified as the culprit in the eighth case and was imprisoned for 20 years.

After Lee Chun-jae confessed to the crime three years ago in 2019, Mr. Yoon was acquitted.

Yoon, who met SBS reporters, revealed that at 9:00 pm on July 25, 1989, when he was 22 years old, he was taken away by the police without knowing English and was tortured for over three days and forced to confess.

Mr. Yoon said, "I couldn't move because I was tied to a chair and handcuffed. And they hung me upside down, but I didn't know if I was alive or dead because my blood flowed backwards. I felt like I would feel better if I died at all."

Mr. Yoon still vividly remembered the scene where not only himself but also innocent young people were sacrificed to the illegal acts of the public authorities.

He recalled the horrific memories, saying, "If you had a criminal record or anything, you were arrested unconditionally. In the Mars area, there are probably no young people who did not go. (Among those who were dragged away) there were people who jumped on trains and died."

The Committee for Reconciliation of the Past for Truth and Reconciliation said that there were more than 20 victims besides Mr. Yoon, and advised the state to apologize and restore honor.
