For Apple customers in the United States, it is possible to do repairs on your devices yourself.

The American giant has just announced on its website that its Self Service Repair program is now available in Europe.

France, Belgium, Sweden, Germany, Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom and Poland are concerned, reports the site Les Numériques.

The same tools as in the Apple Store

With Self Service Repair, it is possible to obtain original Apple spare parts in order to carry out the most common repairs.

This affects iPhone 12 and 13, as well as Macs running an M1 or M2 chip.

200 pieces are offered.

They are supplied with specific tools and documentation to carry out the repair step by step.

We can thus replace its battery, the camera, the screen, the support of the SIM card or the Taptic Engine and the loudspeaker.

Apple specifies that customers have “access to the same manuals, parts and tools used in Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Centers”.

Repair instead of throwing away

The firm offers those who do not want to buy tools that will only be used once to rent a kit.

This costs 60 euros and the customer has one week to repair it before sending it back for free.

The customer can also send the defective part to Apple.

This makes it possible to benefit from a credit and to obtain a discount on the new part.

Apple's service is part of an effort to encourage individuals to repair products rather than get rid of them.

The American firm could soon be followed by Samsung, which is considering adopting home repair for its customers.
