A man in his 30s who threatened an ex-girlfriend and assaulted a police officer for being angry at the breakup notice has been sentenced to probation.

This is because he was a first-time offender and reached an agreement with the victim.

The 11th Criminal Division of the Gwangju District Court (Presiding Judge Park Hyun-soo) sentenced A (34), who was charged with violating the Act on Aggravated Punishment, etc. of Specific Crimes (Threat of Retaliation, etc.) and Punishment of the Crime of Stalking, to 1 year in prison and 2 years probation was sentenced today (7th).

Along with this was two years of probation, 80 hours of community service, a ban from coming within 100 meters of her ex-girlfriend and an order to 'not contact in any way'.

Mr. A was handed over to trial on charges of threatening his ex-girlfriend, who he had lived with for about 4 years, in the parking lot of a villa in Buk-gu, Gwangju at around 4:30 am on April 11th.

Mr. A, who went home to her ex-girlfriend's breakup notice, was enraged at the words, "Please stop drinking and wake up," and threatened to hit the floor with a bottle of soju and wield it.

As well as she is accused of assaulting a police officer who was brought to the scene.

Mr. A, who was arrested as a current criminal by the police dispatched to a report by a resident, kicked the protective glass and partitions in the vehicle while sitting in the back seat of the patrol car, and also kicked the thighs of the inspector who was trying to stop it.

The judge pointed out, "The crime is bad considering the circumstances and content of the crime, such as obsessing over the victim's breakup, threatening to retaliate, and assaulting the police."

However, he said, "The fact that the defendant was a first-time offender with no criminal punishment and the point of agreement with the victim was taken into consideration as a favorable normal."
