In 1988, the meeting between the eldest son of a conglomerate and the daughter of an incumbent president drew attention, and the two held a wedding ceremony at the Blue House guesthouse.

Although he has three children, Chairman Chey Tae-won revealed himself that he has children outside of marriage in 2015.

At the same time, he announced his intention to divorce his wife, Director Noh So-young, and in July 2017, he applied to the court to initiate the divorce mediation process.

At the time, Director Roh was against the divorce and could not reach mediation, but Director Roh also filed a countersuit in December 2019, saying that he would accept the divorce.

Director Noh requested 300 million won in alimony for liability for the breakdown of marriage and 50% of Chairman Chey's shares in SK Holdings, the group's holding company, for property division.

Based on the stock price today (6th), the stake is valued at around 1.35 trillion won.

Regarding this, Chairman Choi has countered that SK Corporation stocks are not subject to property division as the shares donated or inherited from his father are the origin.

Today, the court of the first trial ruled that "the two are divorcing," and Chairman Choi sentenced Director Roh to pay 66.5 billion won in cash as part of property division along with 100 million won in alimony.

SK Holdings shares were not included in the 66.5 billion won, and instead, stocks in some affiliates owned by Chairman Choi, real estate, and severance pay were subject to property division.

Although a significant amount of alimony related to the responsibility for the breakup of the marriage was recognized, it is interpreted as a result of Chairman Choi raising his hand in relation to property division.

In today's ruling, President Choi's side said that it respects the court's judgment, but Director Roh's side has not yet made a statement.
