Labor authorities are investigating whether a worker in his 60s died at the Daegu factory of the food company 'Virak', and whether he violated the Serious Accident Punishment Act.

According to the Ministry of Employment and Labor, at around 10:40 am today (4th), a 60-year-old male employee of a subcontractor at the Daegu Plant in Dalseong-gun, Daegu, died after being caught in a lift facility.

It was found that Mr. A, who died, had an accident while working to move the milk box to the washing room.

'Virak' employs more than 50 full-time workers, and is subject to the Severe Accident Punishment Act.

The Severe Accident Punishment Act, which came into effect on January 27 this year, stipulates that if an industrial accident such as the death of a worker occurs at a workplace with 50 or more full-time workers (construction cost of 5 billion won or more in the construction industry), the employer or manager who does not fulfill his or her duty to prevent accidents can be punished by imprisonment for more than one year or a fine of less than 1 billion won.

The police and the Ministry of Labor are investigating the exact cause of the accident and whether the company violated the law.
