There must be many people who have taken out electric blankets or hot water mats in the extremely cold weather, but a safety accident warning has been issued regarding the use of such electric heaters.

The Fair Trade Commission and the Korea Consumer Agency called for attention, saying that there are more than 3,200 cases of unsafe information related to electric heaters that have been received for four years from 2018.

Nearly half of them said that there was a risk of fire or burns. In fact, there were 514 safety accidents caused by the use of electric heaters.

In particular, there were many low-temperature burns that occurred when exposed to temperatures around 40 degrees Celsius for more than an hour.

The Fair Trade Commission and Consumer Agency urged that electric pads should not be used with bedding made of latex or memory foam, and that the power must be turned off when going out.

In addition, as the risk of low-temperature burns is high, especially diabetic patients with insensitive peripheral nerves, women with fragile skin, and infants should be more careful when using the steamer.
