Today (27th) at around 10:50 am, a forest fire extinguishing helicopter crashed in Hyeonpung-myeon, Yangyang-gun, Gangwon-do.
Five people, including 71-year-old Lee and 54-year-old Kim, were killed in the helicopter.
Initially, it was known that two people were on board the helicopter, but it was confirmed that there were five people on board during the accident recovery process.
The helicopter was jointly leased and operated by Sokcho-si, Goseong-gun, and Yangyang-gun for extinguishing forest fires, and it was known that the forest fire guidance was also in flight that day.
An official from the fire department said, "After the crash, all aircraft were damaged and a fire broke out, and we are working on extinguishing it."
