In June, former candidate Cho Young-dal was arrested by the prosecution on charges of illegally giving money and valuables to camp campaigners during the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education superintendent election.

Seoul Central District Court Chief Judge Kim Jung-min in charge of warrants today (26th) said, "It is judged that there is a significant concern about destroying evidence among joint suspects according to their status and relationship in the election process." An arrest warrant was issued.

Cho and others are accused of paying more than the legal standard to camp campaigners during the election process.

In the course of the investigation, it was reported that the money was handed over to a person who was not registered as an official election campaigner, or the money was given arbitrarily without following the method prescribed by the law.

The prosecution believes that the money delivered in this illegal way amounts to tens of millions of won.

The prosecution, which has secured former candidate Cho's recruits, plans to speed up the investigation into those involved in the case, including campaign workers who received money and valuables.

Former candidate Cho, a former professor at Seoul National University's College of Education, served as the presidential secretary for education and culture during the Kim Dae-jung administration.
