A personal data security breach at Apple has been uncovered by two digital security researchers.

They proved that the Cupertino company could identify each user of an iPhone via a unique identifier, report our colleagues from BFMTV.

“New discovery: Apple's data statistics contain an identifier called "dsId".

We were able to verify that "dsId" stands for "Directory Services Identifier", a unique identifier that authenticates an iCloud account.

Which means that Apple can personally identify you,” the researchers explained.

A practice contrary to the official discourse of Apple

With this process, Apple would also be able to access user interactions with the App Store application store: from searches to applications viewed and for how long, through the advertisements viewed.

For the time being, it is impossible to know whether or not the Apple brand uses this data, and if so in what context.

What is certain, on the other hand, is that this type of discovery goes against the official discourse of the brand regarding the security of the personal data of its users.

Apple does not hesitate to praise in particular its App Tracking Transparency, a device offering the possibility to users of the brand's devices to refuse to be tracked by certain applications.
