The 2022 Qatar World Cup street cheering at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul has been conditionally approved.

Today (22nd), the Seoul Metropolitan Government has conditionally approved the application for the use of Gwanghwamun Square submitted by the Red Devils cheering squad after deliberation by the Gwanghwamun Square Advisory Group.

As conditions for permitting, the Seoul Metropolitan Government put forward securing safety during night hours, managing traffic flow smoothly, promptly responding to emergency situations, and complying with the results of the advisory group.

The period of use is from tomorrow to the 3rd of the following month.

The Red Devils cheering squad plans to cheer on the streets on the 24th (vs Uruguay), 28th (vs Ghana), and December 2nd (vs Portugal) when the Korean national soccer team's World Cup group stage matches are scheduled.

The Red Devils cheering squad submitted an application for the use of Gwanghwamun Square to the Seoul Metropolitan Government on the 17th, and submitted a safety management plan to Jongno-gu, the district office, for review yesterday.

However, as it was pointed out that the countermeasures for the management of large-scale crowds were insufficient, the related contents were supplemented and submitted again this morning to receive conditional permission.

In the supplemented plan, the Red Devil decided to increase the number of safety management personnel from 150 to 340, and to move the main stage, which was scheduled to be installed in front of the statue of King Sejong the Great, to Yukjo Square behind the statue.

In addition, additional large screens were installed throughout the square to spread the crowd over a wider space.

Lee Joong-geun, chairman of the Red Devils, said, "We are installing additional vehicles for supplying electricity and seeking cooperation from the police to secure lanes." there is," he said.

The Red Devils expected to gather 8,000 people on the 24th and 28th, respectively, when they played against Uruguay and Ghana, and 10,000 people on the day of their game against Portugal on December 2nd, when they would advance to the round of 16.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government operates a general situation room to ensure the safe operation of street cheering events.

Until the end of the event, the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts bus stop closest to Gwanghwamun Square will be temporarily closed, and buses passing through the bus stop will not stop.

Gwanghwamun Station on Subway Line 5 is also planning to take measures to pass without stopping if necessary, considering the level of congestion at the platform.

During the closing hours of the cheering match, we decided to increase the number of public transportation operations and extend the last train time.
