The police have launched an investigation into an accusation against an online media that disclosed a list of victims of the Itaewon massacre.

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Anti-Corruption and Public Crime Investigation Unit announced that it is reviewing records related to the accusations against online media 'Dandelle' and 'Citizen Media The Exploration', which released the list of victims of the Itaewon disaster.

The two media caused controversy the day before yesterday (14th) by disclosing the real names of 155 victims of the Itaewon disaster through their websites.

In response, People's Power Seoul City Councilman Lee Jong-bae yesterday accused the media of violating the Personal Information Protection Act, saying, "Disclosure of the list of victims on the Internet without the consent of the bereaved family is providing personal information to a third party without the consent of the information subject." I did.

Separately, the Citizens' Livelihood Countermeasures Committee, a civic group, filed a complaint with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency yesterday, saying, "It is impossible to find out the full list of victims unless it is a government official."

In addition, Lee Jae-myeong, the representative of the Democratic Party of Korea, may have been involved in the disclosure of the list, and accused Lee of leaking official secrets and violating the Personal Information Protection Act together.

The police plan to summon Seoul City Councilman Lee Jong-bae as an accuser tomorrow for questioning.
