In connection with the death of a woman in her 50s in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province last year, a man in his 60s who was designated as the dog owner of the large dog was sentenced to prison.

Today (10th), Judge Jeong Hye-won, the first criminal of the Namyangju Branch of the Uijeongbu District Court, sentenced defendant A (69), who was charged with four counts of manslaughter, violation of the Veterinary Act, violation of the Waste Management Act, and teacher of destruction of evidence, one year in prison. .

A, the owner of a dog farm, was handed over to trial on May 22, last year, on the charge of killing a woman in her 50s who was bitten by a dog at the entrance of a mountain in Saneung-ri, Jingeon-eup, Namyangju-si, who neglected to manage her large dog.

Mr. A is also accused of illegally raising 49 abandoned dogs that were sold at an abandoned animal shelter through his acquaintance B (74), a livestock producer, and injecting antibiotics into the dogs without a veterinarian's license and feeding them food waste.

In addition, in the course of the investigation, a call recording file that instructed B to replace the vehicle black box that showed the moving dog and destroy the CCTV in the farm was revealed, and the charge of destroying evidence was also added.

Judge, "It is difficult to understand Mr. A's claim that the accident dog is not his dog"

Earlier, immediately after the accident, the police identified Mr. A, who was running a dog farm nearby, as the dog owner by analyzing the sales records of abandoned dogs and testing the closeness of the accident dog.

However, from the beginning of the police investigation to the trial, Mr. A insisted, "The accident dog is not the dog I adopted."

A's lawyer said, "On the expert opinion presented by the police, only 2 out of 4 experts gave the opinion that the accident dog and the adopted dog were the same dog, and 2 could not make a judgment."

He continued, "The dog adopted by Mr. A has a red nose, and the Sago dog has a black nose," he added.

However, the court did not accept this, citing the contents of the phone call recording of Mr. A, and found him guilty of all four charges.

The court explained the reason for the sentencing, saying, "It looks like a negligent offense and there is no intention, but the defendant's attitude is bad, such as hiding his mistake and destroying evidence, and he has not been forgiven by the victim's family."
