This is Yongsan Fire Chief Choi Seong-beom, who was in charge of the rescue site when there was an accident in Itaewon.

After the accident, I was briefed on the situation of human casualties at the scene while shaking hands like this in the early morning hours after the accident, but the police booked the Yongsan Fire Chief on charges of negligent manslaughter on the job.

There were also voices about why the person who worked hard to rescue them all night was booked, but the police said that they caught the suspicion through evidence.

Reporter Suwon-wook will tell you what it is.

At 10:15 p.m., a 911 call is received in Itaewon saying that there is an emergency.

After 10:31.

The fire scene command team leader sends a radio message that the ambulance is not visible when about 30 passers-by have fallen.

The first ambulance arrived at around 10:42 pm.

It was an ambulance belonging to the Jongno Fire Station, not an ambulance belonging to the Yongsan Fire Station.

The first ambulance came from a farther place than the Itaewon 119 Safety Center, which is only 200 meters away from the accident site.

The Itaewon Center ambulance was dispatched after a passerby was reported to have suffered head injuries, the Yongsan Fire Station said.

Then, at 10:43 p.m., the first stage of response was issued, and at 11:05 50 minutes after the accident occurred, Yongsan Fire Station Chief Choi Seong-beom declared that he would take direct command.

The Special Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency decided that an investigation was necessary after the chief of the fire department was caught on suspicion of negligence in the process of responding to this Yongsan Fire Station.

An official from the special headquarters said that they comprehensively judged the seizure and search data, CCTV footage, and internal firefighting documents.

Among the firefighters, there was also a reaction that it was unfortunate that Chief Choi was arrested.

On the other hand, firefighters who were dispatched on the day of the disaster and other on-site firefighters held a press conference today (8th).

[Kwon Young-joon/Senior Deputy Director of the Seoul Fire Prevention Department: I tried my best to save even one more person, but the result was disastrous.] In the

wake of the Itaewon disaster, we urged the need for fundamental measures such as expansion of 119 rescue personnel.
