A 30-year-old father who severely beat his 9-year-old daughter and made her 7-year-old son watch it was sentenced to prison for making a bowel movement.

Yesterday (31st), Judge Jeong Hee-young, the 9th independent criminal of the Incheon District Court, announced that Mr. A (37), who was charged with habitual child abuse under the Child Welfare Act, was sentenced to 4 years in prison.

He also ordered him to complete a 120-hour child abuse treatment program and restricted him from working in child-related organizations for five years.

Mr. A was arrested and charged with repeatedly abusing his daughter B (9) and son C (7) at his home located in Michuhol-gu, Incheon, from January last year to last March.

He is accused of emotionally abusing his daughter 20 times, claiming that the room stinks for making a stool mistake, and of emotionally abusing her terrified son by letting him watch the abuse.

In addition, Mr. A was also charged with two fraudulent crimes, such as not paying 560,000 won after ordering alcohol and snacks at a restaurant 6 times.

Previously, the prosecution had asked for a five-year prison sentence for him, saying, "The abuse is very serious and the quality of the crime is poor."

The court said, "As a father, the defendant was obliged to protect and properly nurture the children, but he abused them habitually."

He continued, "(This case) is sure to remain a psychological scar for the victims for a long time.
