On the first day of the installation of the incense burner, the atmosphere was generally calm and somber, but there were occasional mourners who could not contain their sadness and cry.

At 9:30 am today, starting with President Yoon Seok-yeol and his wife, condolences from the ruling and opposition leaders, the prime minister, and the State Councilors continued.



The city of Seoul said that as of 5 p.m., about 4,000 people had visited the incense place and paid their condolences.



The incense burner will be open for six days from today until this Saturday, the national mourning period.



In addition to Seoul Plaza, joint incense burners have been installed in all 25 autonomous districts of Seoul, including Itaewon’s Noksapyeong Station Square near the accident site.
