WhatsApp messaging, a subsidiary of the American group Meta (ex-Facebook), had been the victim of a global outage since Tuesday morning, according to numerous reports recorded by the benchmark site DownDetector.com and complaints from users on social networks.

"User reports indicate that WhatsApp has been experiencing problems since 9:17 a.m. European time, said the DownDetector.com site, which has identified several thousand reports from Internet users.

According to testimonials on social media, users are unable to send messages or log into the service.

Meta confirmed the global outage, saying it was working to restore service "as quickly as possible".

“We are aware that some people are currently having difficulty sending messages and we are working to restore WhatsApp for everyone as quickly as possible,” a spokesperson for the American group told AFP.
