Amidst the constant controversy over juvenile crimes in society, it has been confirmed that the Ministry of Justice has effectively finalized the amendment to the Criminal Act and the Juvenile Act, which lowers the standard age for criminal punishment by one year.

If the amendment is passed by the National Assembly, the standard age for juveniles under the Juvenile Act will be changed from 'under 14' to 'under 13'.

The lowering of the age of expedited children is one of President Yun Seok-yeol's presidential campaign promises and one of the current government tasks.

As soon as the details are finalized, the Ministry of Justice is expected to release the amendments this week.
