The favorite target of hackers who steal the personal data of their victims?

Applications from the Meta group of course.

According to a study by cybersecurity specialist TechShielder, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp are the three applications most targeted by hacks;

reports Phonandroid.

The British company has listed the top 10 most "popular" applications among hackers.

The podium in the colors of Meta, followed by Snapchat and Twitch, is explained by the high number of users of these applications – and the volume of data they provide in this way.

A new study by TechShielder shows that 60% of the apps store data on the content that users create and 50% of popular apps have access to photos and videos from users' camera rolls

Data-intensive apps

All mobile apps store data, but some retain more than others.

Meta is an expert in the field and stores much more information than necessary for each of its users: e-mail address, telephone number, photos, videos and even data from private exchanges.

A real gold mine for pirates.

TechShielder has ranked the apps that collect the most data: Facebook and Messenger, Instagram, Snapchat, WhatsApp, Twitter, YouTube, Netflix, Twitch and Telegram.

All these apps share the data collected with third-party companies, increasing the risk of theft by hackers.

Geographically, certain areas (highly inhabited, inevitably) are more at risk than others.

Londoners are very exposed to hacking and theft of personal data, ahead of residents of Mexico City and Parisians.

Residents of Bogota (Colombia) and Seoul (South Korea) are also quite badly off.

Curiously, New York does not appear in the top 20.
