The Ministry of Public Administration and Security held a briefing today (6th) at 2 pm at the government complex in Seoul and officially announced the government organization restructuring plan to abolish the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.



According to the reform plan, instead of abolishing the current Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, the functions of youth and family, gender equality, and promotion of rights and interests will be transferred to the newly established 'Population and Family Gender Equality Headquarters' under the Ministry of Health and Welfare.



The 'employment of women' function has been decided by the Ministry of Employment and Labor.



To strengthen the status of the national veterans system, the current Ministry of Veterans Affairs, at the deputy minister level, will be upgraded to the ministerial level, the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, and the organization and functions for implementing related policies will be reinforced.



In addition, the Office of Overseas Koreans, which will integrate the business functions of the Overseas Koreans Foundation, was established under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to strengthen support policies for overseas Koreans.



If the new government organization law is passed by the National Assembly, the current government organization consisting of 18 departments, 4 departments, 18 offices, and 6 committees will be changed to 18 departments, 3 departments, 19 offices, and 6 committees.



The government announced that it will make an active effort to ensure that the amendment to the Government Organization Act that reflects the contents of this content will be dealt with at this regular session of the National Assembly.
