The facts occurred in Grenoble and led to the death of an 18-year-old girl, shot dead during this chase and who occupied the passenger seat in the fugitive's vehicle. 

Named Kaouass, the man prosecuted had notably been indicted and then imprisoned on June 21, 2012 in Carpentras in the Vaucluse.

He was then involved in a series of attempted homicides with firearms against a background of local drug trafficking.

On two occasions, police officers who wanted to intervene had been fired upon without being injured.

Sentenced to eight years in prison by the Carpentras Criminal Court, he was released on March 8, 2021.

An arrest warrant issued against him in April 2022 

Kaouass is also wanted under an arrest warrant issued on April 28, 2022 by the Bourgoin-Jallieu prosecution concerning the execution of a one-year sentence for acts of contempt of person. authority, rebellion and the carrying of a prohibited weapon.
