A former police chief who fled the scene after causing a traffic accident without a license has been handed over to trial.

Yesterday (4th), the Jeonju District Prosecutor's Office announced that it had indicted a former police chief, A, without detention on charges of violating the Special Act on Traffic Accident Handling and the Road Traffic Act.

The police, who received the report from the victim, contacted Mr. A at around 5 pm after looking at the vehicle's record, but Mr. A denied the crime, saying, "I am the owner of the car, but I did not drive."

However, the police judged that A had left the scene even after recognizing the traffic accident, so he applied the charge of escaping and sent it over.

As a result of the investigation, it was found that Mr. A was caught driving under the influence in December of last year and his driver's license was revoked, and the road where he had the accident was under his jurisdiction at the time of his current job.

A police official at the time said, "Even if Mr. A had mistakenly thought that there was an accident with another car right after the accident, he would have known that the accident had occurred." .

On the other hand, the prosecution dismissed the charge of hit-and-run, such as theft and failure to take action after the accident, due to insufficient evidence.

An official from the prosecution explained, "A's statement and the driver's statement of the car that Mr.
