A photo of the remains of a South Korean soldier who died during the Korean War in Chilgok, North Gyeongsang Province, has been released.  



On the 4th, Chilgok County Governor Kim Jae-wook released a photo of the remains of a South Korean soldier who died during the Korean War on the 4th and left a note of condolences. 



The remains of the soldier in the photo were shot down and turned into a skeleton in a crouched posture, but the original shape of the boots has been preserved to the extent that the shape is recognizable even after more than 70 years.



With the photo, Governor Kim said, "The body of the veterans in the photo has turned into a white bone, but perhaps because of their earnest desire to return to their hometown, their boots remain intact even after 72 years have passed. ? I will forever remember the boots that did not rot." 



According to the article he wrote, the remains in the photo were discovered by a soldier of the Chilgok Battalion of the 50th Division on the 28th of last month and reunited with his family. .

On the other hand, the Ministry of National Defense's remains excavation project, which started in April 2000, is a 'National Patriotic Patriots and Veterans Project' to find the remains of patriots who sacrificed their lives for the country during the Korean War, but were not recovered, and return them to the motherland. More than 13,000 remains were unearthed across the country. 



Among them, the Battle of Dabudong in Chilgok was a battle between the ROK Army and the Korean People's Army in Gumi-si, Uiseong-gun, and Chilgok-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do from August 3 to 29, 1950. It was one of the fiercest battlefields during the war. 



During the excavation of remains in the Chilgok area from August 16 to September 30, 8 pieces of remains, ammunition and grenades, and more than 1,000 items of belongings were also excavated.
