A man in his 20s who stalked his ex-girlfriend and his mother has been sentenced to probation.

The Chuncheon District Court sentenced a 20-year-old man accused of violating the Act on the Punishment of Stalking Crimes to 8 months in prison and 2 years of probation.

Mr. A repeatedly called or texted his ex-girlfriend after dating for three months 138 times in 17 days.

When she failed to reach her, she is accused of approaching her on three occasions, including visiting her ex-girlfriend at her mother's workplace, delivering her letter, and calling to 'take good care of her daughter'.

Because of this, she sent messages such as 'I'm sorry' and 'Please forgive me', even though she was given a provisional ban on access using telecommunications such as cell phones and e-mails.

The court explained that the sentence was decided in consideration of the fact that the victims must have felt considerable anxiety and fear, and that they were first offenders even though the crime was poor.
