From the middle of this month, when you catch a taxi between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m. in the metropolitan area, the calling fee will increase to a maximum of 5,000 won.

When a passenger pays a calling fee, the destination is not indicated or the taxi driver is forced to dispatch short-distance calls so that the taxi driver cannot filter it out.

In addition, we will introduce part-time work, which allows taxi drivers to work only during high-income late-night hours, if they wish, and streamline the procedures they have to go through when working for a taxi company.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced today (4th) the 'late-night taxi crisis alleviation measures'.

The focus of the measures is to increase the number of late-night taxis that are lacking by encouraging taxi drivers to run at night, and to reverse the sharp decline in the number of taxi drivers who have opted out of the delivery and courier business.

To this end, first of all, the taxi calling fee of up to 3,000 won will be raised to a maximum of 5,000 won for affiliated taxis such as Kakao T Blue and Macaron Taxi, and up to 4,000 won for brokered taxis such as Kakao T and Uti (UT).

Calling rates are adjusted flexibly during high-demand times and regions.

If you call a taxi from Gangnam Station in Seoul at midnight, the maximum calling fee of 4,000 to 5,000 won is applied.

Passengers can choose whether or not to pay a call to call a taxi, and toll-free calls are still available.

To prevent refusal of a call by making the destination of the passenger who paid the calling fee unknown to the taxi driver, a member taxi with the destination is forcibly dispatched.

The flexible calling rate will be applied sequentially in the metropolitan area starting from the middle of this month until the end of the year.

Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Won Hee-ryong said, "It is necessary to improve the treatment of taxi drivers who are not even at the minimum level of livelihood.

As Seoul's taxi late-night surcharge increase will take effect in December and the basic fare increase will take effect from February next year, the government announced that it would review the adjustment of calling rates after analyzing the burden of the public and the supply and demand situation of taxis.

Considering the shortage of taxi drivers at night, part-time work is also allowed.

This is a plan to allow drivers who are qualified to drive taxis to drive corporate taxis that are not in operation as part-time jobs at desired times, such as late at night on Fridays and Saturdays.

Corporate taxi company employment procedures are relaxed.

If a taxi driver applicant completes the necessary procedures such as a criminal background check, he/she can immediately get a job and obtain a formal taxi driver license.

The subtitle of periodically forcibly closing taxis will be completely lifted.

Currently, taxis are divided into groups according to the last digit of the vehicle number, and the days on which each group cannot operate are determined.

In the case of Seoul, there is a three-part system where you work for two days and take a day off.

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the number of late-night private taxis increased by 30% in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do, which lifted the taxi system in April this year.

For the convenience of corporate taxi drivers, the obligation to return the vehicle to a garage outside the city after late night driving is relaxed.

If a separate parking space is secured, parking and shifts are possible around the residence.

The government also decided to review taxi operation improvements such as corporate taxi lease system limited to late-night hours and full management system (salary system), and revitalize the Tada and Uber models.

Minister Won said, "There has been a lot of controversy over the Tada and Uber services over the past few years, but now we will not compromise on the vested interests that hinder innovation. .
