Recently, threatening phone calls have been made to massage parlors and karaoke bars everywhere, and the police have launched an investigation.

If they don't send money, they will report it to a decommissioning business and disrupt business. Reporter Kim Bo-mi covered the details.

Mr. A, who has been running a Thai massage parlor in Gangdong-gu and Gwangjin-gu, Seoul for over 10 years.

Two months ago, he got a strange phone call from a man.

[Blackmailer-A's phone: The boss's shop is in Hwayang-dong, Cheonho-dong, and Seongnae-dong?

(Yes, it is.)]

Then, he asked for money, saying that it was not an illegal decadent establishment.

[Blackmailer-A's phone: While receiving a massage, the ladies give me 00. Is this illegal or what is illegal?

(There is no such fact. What are you asking for?) We want 3 million won per store.] Since

he was not doing illegal business, Mr. A seems to have taken it very seriously and did not send any money.

The bullying started at this point.

The gang of blackmailers reported to the police that it was an illegal business up to five times a day.

[Mr. A/management of a massage parlor: Send a gift certificate 10 times for 300,000 won each.

Then I won't report it. If you don't send it, I'll keep calling the police and harassing your store...

.]

From the beginning of August until now, the police have been dispatched to A's three businesses 33 times.

One place was temporarily closed as it could not operate properly due to continuous false reports.

But it wasn't the only place I received threatening calls.

It was revealed that the band was extorting money from massage parlors and karaoke bars in Seoul using the same method.

[Blackmailer - Call from another business: The boss said he's sending 150 now, so I stopped reporting it and I won't touch the boss's shop from now on.

I'll give you the rest of the week, so I'll give you 250.

(Really, you do it too much. I worked hard to make money.)]

It is estimated that there are a lot of businesses that do not report the damage to the police even after taking money due to the fact that they violate the law.

They are evading tracking by using cannon phones, etc., but the police are focusing on identifying the culprit through call history analysis.
