A 60-year-old son who made a bed for his deceased mother in Seoraksan National Park has been sentenced to probation in prison.



The Chuncheon District Court sentenced a 60-year-old man accused of violating the Natural Park Act to 6 months in prison and 2 years of probation, and ordered 80 hours of community service.



In May last year, Mr. A fell trees in Seoraksan National Park, Inje-gun, Gangwon-do, without permission, and used an excavator to dig about 270 square meters of land and installed a graveyard and stone steps.



The indictment also included charges of installing a septic tank without permission.



However, Mr. A did not show any remorse, stating in court that he had no regrets and was satisfied with having his mother there.



The court pointed out that 'the quality of the crime is poor and there is a history of being punished for violating the Parks and Greenery Act, and there is no light of reflection', but 'However, it appears that the restoration has been made in the unauthorized change of shape, logging, and installation of a septic tank.
