“On the night of October 1, two observatories in the south of Russia confirmed the discovery of a new asteroid 2022 SE37, approaching the Earth,” the institute’s Telegram channel said.
The asteroid is half a kilometer in diameter and revolves around the Sun.
It is specified that in the foreseeable future the celestial body does not pose a danger to the Earth.
Earlier, the American DART probe collided with the asteroid Dimorph in order to test the first of its kind protection of the Earth from potentially dangerous space objects.
