The Seoul Metropolitan Government has announced that it will expand the number of diesel vehicles, which are restricted from driving within the four main gates, from the current level 5 to level 4 from 2025 to reduce air pollutants.

He added that he would also promote the conversion of diesel village buses and delivery trucks to electric vehicles by 2026.

Mayor Oh Se-hoon announced today (28th) a comprehensive measure to improve air quality, 'Clean Seoul 2030'.

The goal is to improve the ultrafine dust concentration in Seoul from 20㎍/㎥ last year to 13㎍/㎥, the level of major overseas cities, by 2030 by investing a total of 3.8 trillion won by 2030.

First of all, the Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to prohibit the operation of Class 4 diesel vehicles in green traffic areas, that is, within the four main gates, from 2025, and expand the restricted areas to the entire Seoul area by 2030.

In addition, by providing various incentives such as subsidy support, the current 33,000 delivery motorcycles will be replaced with electric vehicles by 2025, and 450 diesel village buses and 6,100 parcel trucks will be replaced by electric vehicles by 2026. About 300 cars have also come up with a plan to switch to low-emission vehicles by 2030.

In addition, through cooperation between local governments in the metropolitan area, changes to CNG or electric buses from Gyeonggi-Incheon buses entering Seoul, and measures to strengthen the management of living facilities that emit air pollutants, such as heating facilities and construction sites, are included in the measures. That's it.

However, the Seoul Metropolitan Government said that in order for this measure to be carried out smoothly, related legislation such as the revision of the Air Management Zone Act must be supported, and consultations with neighboring local governments as well as China, which are affecting Seoul's air pollution, are necessary.
