There was an incident where a middle school student wielded a weapon against the classmates in the classroom, and the reason for the crime was that he could not attend the experiential learning retreat.

The Gwangju West Police Station is investigating and arresting group A, a third-year middle school student, on charges of rioting with a weapon at school yesterday (27th).

Group A is accused of threatening students in the same class in the classroom by taking out the weapon he had brought from home this morning.

After receiving the report, the police rushed to the scene and caught Army A at the scene.

Teachers and students were evacuated and fortunately no one was injured.

During the police investigation, Army A is known to have stated that he was angry because he could not attend training activities.

The school resumed experiential learning and field trips for the first time in three years since the spread of COVID-19, but it is known that Group A was selected as a target for special education from an external institution due to previous deviance from the school and was unable to participate in the retreat.

A school official said that after seeing the results of the police investigation, they will discuss further actions with the city education office.
