A man in his 20s who lived with a middle school girl who disappeared for a long time in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province without reporting it to the investigation agency, was arrested by the police.

The Wonmi Police Station in Bucheon announced on the 26th that it had booked a man in his 20s without detention on charges of violating the Act on the Protection and Support of Missing Children, etc.

Mr. A is accused of not reporting to the police while staying with Ms. B (15) at her residence in Simgok-dong, Bucheon from the 18th to the 25th.

Under current law, a missing child cannot be protected without a good cause without reporting it to the police.

Violation of this can result in imprisonment of up to 5 years or a fine of up to 50 million won.

Ms. B was recently reported as missing from Sejong City, and her whereabouts have not been known until a month has passed, so she has been classified as a long-term missing child.

On the evening of the 25th, the police received a 112 call from a PC room in Simgok-dong around 6:30 pm and rushed to the scene, and found Mr. A with Miss B.

When the police inquired about the relationship with Miss B, Ms. A claimed to be his cousin, but the police, suspicious of Ms. A, who did not even know B's parents, confirmed through background check that Ms. B was a long-term missing child.

As a result of the police investigation, it was found that Mr. A and Mrs. B got to know each other through SNS and had been together for about a week.

The police will hand over Miss B to her parents, while investigating the exact circumstances of the incident against A.

Meanwhile, a man in his 20s, C, who took a Gwangju middle school girl who had been missing for over two months to his Daejeon home was also arrested by the police.

Mr. C is accused of living with D (14), a middle school girl, from July 18 to 23 this month without reporting it even though he knew that he had run away.

According to the police investigation, Mr. C suggested that he come to Daejeon, where he lives, saying, "I will take care of the room and board," to Ms. D, whom he met on a mobile game messenger.

It is known that Mr. C told the police, "I ran away and saw him with nowhere to go, so I kept taking him with me because he was pitiful."

The police send Ms. D to a specialized child protection agency to receive emotional support such as counseling, while investigating whether she has suffered any crimes while running away from home.
