Lee Hwa-young, former deputy governor of Gyeonggi-do for peace, has been requested for an arrest warrant on charges of receiving billions of dollars in money from the Ssangbang-Bul group.

Former Lieutenant Governor Lee appeared at the Suwon District Prosecutor's Office this morning before receiving a warrant substantive examination and denied the charges.

When asked by reporters why he used the corporate card, he said, "I did not use it." He said, "I will clear up the misunderstanding and explain my position."

Former Lieutenant Governor Lee is accused of receiving 250 million won in bribes from SsangBall in the name of using a corporate card.

After serving as an outside director, he served as the Gyeonggi-do Deputy Governor of Peace from August 2018 to January 2020. Prosecutors found that the former Lieutenant Governor Lee received more than 400 million won from Ssang-Ball during this period, of which more than 250 million won. I think it's a bribe.

The court also held a substantive examination of the warrant against former vice-chairman A.

Mr. A is suspected of trying to destroy evidence, such as giving a corporate card to the former Lieutenant Governor and destroying the PC in the Ssangbull Audit Office with a hammer.

Whether or not to detain them is expected to be decided later tonight.
