The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family has overturned the existing position of recognizing common-law couples and households living together as legal families.

On the 24th, according to the Office of the People's Power Assemblyman Jeong Kyung-hee, the Ministry of Leisure and Leisure said, "It is desirable to keep the current status" when asked about his opinion on the recent 'Healthy Family Basic Law Amendment'.

The amendment proposed by Rep. Nam In-soon of the Democratic Party of Korea two years ago aims to delete the provision that defines the family as a 'unit consisting of marriage, blood ties, and adoption' and to amend the term 'healthy family' to 'family'.

I will delete the provision," but recently changed his position not to delete this provision.

Next, the Ministry of Leisure has changed its attitude to the term 'healthy family'.

Last year, the Ministry of Leisure and Leisure said, "We will change the term 'healthy family' to a value-neutral term. It represents the policy goals to be pursued.”

After controversy over the appearance of overturning the existing position, the leisure department said, "

He added, "We plan to continuously review the provision of various types of families, such as common-law marriage, in the Framework Act on Healthy Family based on social consensus."

Meanwhile, according to the National Statistical Portal (KOSIS) of the National Statistical Office, the number of non-relative household members reached 1,015,100 last year, exceeding 1 million for the first time since the count.
