On the day of Chuseok, the body found in the tidal flats of Ganghwa Island, Incheon, was a man in his 20s who went missing at Gayang Station in Seoul.



The Incheon Maritime Police Station announced today (26th) that it had requested DNA analysis from the National Institute for Scientific Investigation to confirm the identity of the body found in the tidal flats of Ganghwa Island on the 10th.



This body was found by a fisherman on the tidal flat near Gwangseongbo in Buleun-myeon, Ganghwa-gun, Incheon at about 1:46 pm on the 10th, the day of Chuseok.



The body, believed to be a male, was left with only the lower half of the body, wearing trousers and sneakers, and was largely decomposed.



As a result of the investigation, the pants and sneakers the body was wearing are similar to those worn by the 25-year-old Lee, who disappeared near Gayang Station in Gangseo-gu, Seoul on the 7th of last month.



On the 7th of last month, Lee broke up with his acquaintances near the Airport Market Station in Gangseo-gu at around 1:30 am on the 7th of last month, and on the same day at 2:15 am on the same day, he went up from Gayang Station to the Gayang Bridge. His whereabouts are unknown.



Lee's family and acquaintances are requesting reports by making flyers containing his impressions and photos and sharing them with social networking services (SNS) and internet communities.



A Coast Guard official said, "Based on the DNA analysis of the National Forensic Service and the autopsy results of the body, we plan to confirm the exact identity of the body and the cause of death."
