We announced yesterday (22nd) that 8 substances that could be dangerous to the human body were additionally identified among the ingredients in hair dye or dye shampoo.

However, even if the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety confirms the risk, it takes more than two years for the product to be withdrawn.

Consumers are inevitably confused, and it is pointed out that there is a need for a device to prevent this.

Users of dyed shampoos, which have become very popular by promoting that they can be easily dyed, are confused.

This is because, in January, the regulatory reform committee decided to re-verify the risks after the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced that it would put THB, a key ingredient in this shampoo, on the banned list.

However, the re-verification hosted by the Korea Council of Consumer Organizations only took place once at a meeting in which the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and the relevant company participated.

It is easy to buy, so many people still use it.

[Dyeing shampoo user (70s): I like it because I use it.

It is convenient because you do not need to add water (dye) in the middle, and I think it would be good if there is no problem (re-verification result).]

After the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety designated THB as other hazardous substances with potential for genotoxicity, 13 ingredients were added. I did.

It seems that many of the currently circulating hair dyes and shampoos, including products from large companies, use harmful substances.

The problem is that these products can be distributed and sold over the next two years.

Worried consumers have no choice but to check the ingredients listed on the products one by one.

However, it is not easy to find out whether harmful substances have been added by looking at dozens of similarly different complex ingredient names, and even that is difficult in the case of dyeing at a beauty salon.

[Yoonmi Cho / Executive Representative of Future Consumer Action: We have to give consumers a clear warning, move quickly, and take continuous action, which is why the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety exists.

] We need to provide enough information and act quickly so that products in circulation can be bought with confidence.
