When African swine fever (ASF) was confirmed one after another in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, the government took an emergency quarantine, saying it was "a very serious situation."

In Chuncheon yesterday (19th), ASF occurred in a pig farm raising about 7,000 pigs, and ASF was additionally confirmed today at another farm in Chuncheon, just 5.3 km away.

It is said that the farm was raising about 6,500 pigs.

African Swine Fever Central Accident Control Headquarters is slaughtering all of these pigs in accordance with the Emergency Action Guidelines (SOP), while intensively disinfecting all pig farms and surrounding roads in Gangwon-do to prevent further infection.

However, the heavy water supply department predicted that the impact of the additional confirmation on the supply and demand of pork would be extremely limited.

The number of pigs raised by the two farms where ASF occurred was only 0.1% of the total breeding pigs.
