The lady at the car wash checkout is delighted: "But you have a nice car.

Is that new?” Fairly.

We are traveling with the Peugeot 308 SW, i.e. the station wagon version of the compact 308 and in turn the cousin of the Opel Astra Sports Tourer.

Externally, the two differ significantly, inside there are some similarities, for example the small rocker switch for forwards and backwards.

And the technology under the dress is the same in each case.

The test car came with the 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 180 hp but is still supported by a 110 hp electric motor.

As a team, the two offer 225 hp and a maximum torque of 360 Newton meters.

This combination is convincing.

In the hatchback Astra we drove the version with 180 system hp, which is also available for the 308.

The differences are limited.

Everything looks harmonious here and there, the eight-speed automatic shifts smoothly.

However, we covered up to 65 kilometers purely electrically with the Astra, in the Peugeot it was only a maximum of 55. And once even only 41. Well, the station wagon is heavier and had more power, with the size of the battery being 12.4 kWh gross was identical.

Running empty, it requires 11.7 kWh net, from which an average electrical requirement of 24.3 kWh per 100 kilometers can be calculated.

That's 12.15 euros for 100 kilometers at 0.50 euros per kWh.

Moved with the combustion engine, the 308 SW required an average of 7.2 liters of Super per 100 kilometers for almost 3000 kilometers travelled.

Incidentally, in Holland (limit: 100 km/h) it was only 6.0.

If the price of petrol is more than two euros, it is usually cheaper to drive with electricity.

We liked the comfort of the suspension, since the Peugeot is entirely in the French tradition.

The space available in the 4.64 meter long 308 SW is also okay.

The maximum load volume is 1576 liters when the three-part rear seat is folded down.

The length of the loading area is 1.80 meters.

We didn't like the small steering wheel, flattened at the top and bottom, over which you look at the digital dashboard.

But that's a matter of taste.

In the good GT equipment, this Peugeot requires 47,250 euros.

Unfortunately, charging with 7.4 kW costs extra, compared to the regular 3.7.
