Xiaomi

is very close to snatching second position from

Apple

in the world ranking of smartphone manufacturers.

In the second quarter of this year the company has sold almost 40 million phones compared to 46 million for Apple.

But despite being clear rivals, Xiaomi seems willing to bury the hatchet if there is an opportunity to do business.

His latest product, in fact, is an accessory for the

iPhone.

In

China,

the company has started selling an external magnetic battery intended to attach to the iPhone using the MagSafe magnetic dock.

It is a small "backpack" compatible with the iPhone 12, 13 and 14 with a capacity of 5,000 mAh that can charge the phone at a power of 7.5W, the slowest wireless charging standard (iPhones support up to 15W wireless charging) .

The battery also comes with a small base for recharging and the whole works somewhat like a dock for the phone, which can be oriented both vertically and horizontally on it.

It is charged via

USB-C

and can also function as a wireless power bank for other devices compatible with the Qi standard or connected via USB-C cable, in this case with a maximum power of 12W.

The price of the accessory is about

30 euros to change,

although Xiaomi has not yet confirmed if it will sell the device outside the local market.

As an alternative, it's considerably cheaper than Apple's external magnetic battery, which is thinner but has only 1,460 mAh capacity and is priced at

119 euros.
