Broadcaster Park Soo-hong's older brother was arrested today (13th) on charges of embezzling his younger brother's appearance fees.
Kim Yu-mi, a judge in charge of the Seoul Western District Court's warrant, issued a warrant for her arrest, saying, "There are concerns about destroying evidence and escaping."
Park, who was in charge of Park Soo-hong's management, is accused of embezzling a large amount of money while managing his brother's income, such as broadcasting fees (embezzlement under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Certain Economic Crimes).
Such suspicions arose when an article was posted on Park Soo-hong's YouTube channel in March last year saying, "Park Soo-hong's older brother and his brother-in-law have embezzled various contracts and fees."
It is about Park Soo-hong's older brother who stole 10 billion won of the money he had earned for about 30 years since his debut in 1991.
As the controversy grew, Park Soo-hong posted on social media directly, stating that the embezzlement of his brother and his wife was true.
In April of last year, he filed a complaint with the prosecution saying, "(My brother and I) decided that they no longer have the will to solve the problem amicably."
The 3rd criminal division of the Seoul Western Prosecutor's Office (Chief Prosecutor Kim Chang-soo), who arrested Park, plans to accurately estimate the amount of his embezzlement and further investigate whether there are any accomplices in the crime.
