A woman in her 40s who was convicted of threatening her two young children with a knife after drinking and assaulting her face several times has been sentenced to probation.



Although the court pointed out that the woman's responsibilities were not light, the court did not sentence her children to death, saying she did not want to be punished.



The 6th Criminal Division of the Uijeongbu District Court (Judge Lee Woo-hee) announced on the 12th that a woman in her 40s, who was charged with violating the Child Welfare Act, was sentenced to six months in prison and two years of probation.

She also ordered her to attend 40 hours of child abuse prevention training.



Mr. A was drinking at her home located in northern Gyeonggi Province in August of last year and called her two young children, two siblings.



At her call from Mr. A, her children went into her room and locked her door. Angry Mr. A threatened her children by taking her knife from her kitchen and stabbing her through the cracks in the door. .



She soon opened her door and it was discovered that Mr. A went up to her child who was terrified and hugged her sofa cushion and stabbed the cushion with her weapon.



The abuse continued the next day.



She also abused her physically and mentally, including, after drinking from her, Mr. A grabbed her children by the hair and beat her in the face several times.



The court pointed out that "Mr. A, as the mother of her victims, has an obligation to protect minor children, but she rather uses abusive language, intimidation, and violence, so her responsibility is not light."



He added, "Since this incident, the relationship with the victim and the couple's relationship seems to have improved, and the relationship between the victim and Mr. A has also improved." and explained the reason for the sentencing.
