The Seoul City Council is actively discussing the ordinance on the abolition of TBS traffic broadcasting support.

According to the city council, at the 314th extraordinary meeting, which will be opened on the 14th of this month, the 'Ordinance to abolish the Ordinance on the Establishment and Operation of the Seoul Media Foundation TBS' will be dealt with in earnest.

The Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee, the standing committee in charge, puts it on the agenda on the 20th of this month and holds a public hearing on the 26th to collect opinions from both sides.

The ordinance bill jointly proposed in early July by all members of the city council, the ordinance on the establishment and operation of the Media Foundation TBS, will be abolished as of July 1, next year. It contains the contents of removing the financial aid from the Seoul Metropolitan Government and allowing TBS to walk the path of independent management.

The ordinance bill will be implemented after a grace period of one year after promulgation, but it is unclear whether it will be dealt with at this extraordinary meeting right away.

This special meeting will continue until the 28th of this month, and then the regular meeting will be held from November to the end of December.

Chairman Kim Hyun-ki said, "It is undecided whether a decision will be made in this session."

In this session, the proposal to participate in TBS submitted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government at the end of last month is also expected to be discussed.

This agenda includes a reduction of 8.8 billion won in TBS contributions from 32 billion won this year to 22.3 billion won next year.

Last year, the city council, which had a majority with the Democratic Party, significantly reduced the cut, but this year, as the people's power became the majority, it is not very likely that the city council will make a big adjustment.
