This is a photo of a pile of work clothes for POSCO employees soaked in muddy water and oil.

Due to the Chuseok holiday, it was difficult to find people, so the daily wage of electricians jumped up to 1.25 million won.

This happened while the POSCO Pohang Works, which stopped after 49 years due to typhoon Hinnam-ro, were preparing to restart.

After starting the operation of some furnaces, POSCO expected normal operation as early as tomorrow (12th).

Although it was a holiday, recovery from typhoon damage continued nonstop in other areas of Pohang.

Reporter Kim Nak-seong of TBC reports.

Ji-eun Han, a housewife from Yeonil-eup, Pohang, is busy distributing lunch boxes to the victims of Daesong-myeon.

He also suffered flood damage to his car in the typhoon, but he couldn't stand to see the misfortunes of his neighbors.

[Han Ji-eun / Yeonil-eup, Pohang: You say that even if you can't help with difficult tasks, you don't have enough hands.

It seems that it is the duty of the same neighbor to help as much as we can.]

Soldiers in the military are also contributing greatly.

The 1st Marine Division has deployed about 2,800 men so far.

About 300 of them worked hard to restore Daesong-myeon while returning the Chuseok holidays.

We provide a variety of support services, from maintenance of flooded houses to water supply and laundry.

[Yoon Cheong-hyeon / 1st Marine Division Sergeant: I am not from Pohang, but seeing the local residents struggling, I feel that I need to work harder and as a Marine Corps trusted by the people…

.]

So far, 3,402 of the 8,6 typhoon-damaged facilities in Gyeongbuk have been restored, and the emergency recovery rate is 43%.

The number of victims who have not yet returned home is 310 in 230 households, of which 105 are still staying at the Daesong-myeon Welfare Center.

[Pohang city officials: There is also the problem of manpower (shortage).

There is also the problem of equipment (lack).

You also need (a lot) equipment for laundry and stuff like that.

There is a shortage of manpower, etc.]

Gyeongsangbuk-do, Pohang-si, and Gyeongju-si are making all-out efforts for restoration, but the damage is so large that it will take a considerable amount of time to restore to normal.
