Prosecutors found the money stolen by a Woori Bank employee and an accomplice brother, who were arrested on charges of embezzling 70 billion won worth of company money, and started additional recovery procedures.

The Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office's criminal proceeds recovery department found embezzlement money worth billions of won that was kept under borrowed names by a former Woori Bank employee and his accomplice younger brother, and requested compensation from the court.

In addition to the 6.6 billion won in funds that have been frozen so far, the prosecution conducted a search and seizure of 100 million won at the Seoul Detention Center, where Jeon and his younger brother are imprisoned, at the end of last month. We secured a lot of cash and high-priced items, and we confirmed additional hidden assets worth billions of won.

Prosecutors initially handed them over to trial on charges of stealing a total of 61.4 billion won, but they are conducting further investigations following the notification of the Financial Supervisory Service that the amount of embezzlement amounted to 69.73 billion won.

Prosecutors are expanding their investigation, focusing on the possibility that a criminal facilitator existed based on methods using overseas offshore companies and multiple suspicious accounts with borrowed names.
