While coach Lee Kyu-hyeon (42), a former figure skating national, was arrested on charges of raping a minor student, the past sexual harassment, drunk driving, and hit-and-run fatalities have surfaced again.

In the middle of last month, the first criminal division of the Namyangju Branch of the Uijeongbu District Prosecutor's Office requested an arrest warrant for Mr. Lee on charges of sexually assaulting his teenage disciple, and the court issued an arrest warrant for evidence destruction and fears of fleeing.

Lee, who is currently imprisoned in Uijeongbu Prison, is known to have denied his crimes.

As this incident became known through the press, Lee's past inappropriate behavior is also being re-examined.

In September 2005, Lee was arrested on charges of driving his vehicle in Bomun-dong, Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, and killing a passerby in his 50s while running away.

In addition, there are only three prior convictions for drunk driving.

Not only that, but in 2016, he was embroiled in an allegation of sexual harassment by a minor student.

In the 2017 International Skating Union (ISU) Figure Skating Junior Competition held in September 2016, Lee was shown excessively unnecessary physical contact, such as wrapping his teenage student's waist and patting his buttocks. It sparked a sexual harassment controversy.

Having competed twice in a row at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano and 2002 in Salt Lake, Lee is also known as the younger brother of former national speed skating player Lee Kyu-hyuk.

Her father is also a speed skater, and her mother served as the president of the National Skating Federation.
