From the sudden heavy rain in the central region last month to the current typhoon, the underground parking lot has been flooded one after another.

In an apartment in Seocho-gu, Seoul, completed last year, there was no vehicle damage in this apartment despite a sudden heavy rain in the metropolitan area on the 8th of last month.

However, in the underground parking lot of a building that is not even 1km away from this apartment, a man in his 40s who could not escape the rainwater rushing in while trying to get the car out during the last heavy rain died.

An official from the apartment management office said, 'The rent is not high, but it is thanks to the water curtain blocking the waterway'.

Typhoon Hinnamno, which struck within a month, caused a tragedy in the underground parking lot of an apartment building in Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do.

Experts say, 'To prevent flooding in underground parking lots, etc., it is necessary to set guidelines for the height of the curtain screen and to put forward the installation of the curtain screen as a condition when building permits, so that it can be applied retroactively to existing buildings.

However, he advised that installing an automatic screen in an apartment costs more than 90 million won by default, and that the government and local governments should support the cost and encourage building owners to install it.
